Our Story

The film behind these words follows water through the farm in one continuous close-up: resting on cracked bark, sinking through soil among the roots, rising through a green stem, and settling on a leaf in evening light.

Our Roots

Our Story

A regenerative forest farm in the Somerset Hills of New Jersey, healing the land one season at a time.

Where It All Began

Healthy food
that is delicious

Healthy soil makes healthy food. We are what we eat ate.

One line carries the exchange from soil to plant, where it divides: one route through the animal, one straight from the garden. Both arrive at you.

“Eating is an agricultural act.”Wendell Berry

In 2015

Michele and her family moved to the Somerset Hills of New Jersey

She felt a calling to combine her love for food with healing the land that was allowed to go fallow after being farmed more than ninety years ago. The fallow years left behind an unsuccessful successionary forest, invasive plants, and eroding soil.

The living line descends and stops where the land was left fallow. Below the break its strands carry on without ever joining.

Interdependence

Earth · animals · people

We honor the interdependence of the earth, animals, and people.

The exchange runs from soil to flock, gardens, permaculture terraces, mushroom yards and silvopastures, into your home, and back to the soil.

It is our intention to inspire others to do what they can, even if they live in an apartment.

Heal the land

Our goal is to get back to basics.

High standard of care

We believe in a high standard of care for the animals who feed us, pastured in rotation as multi-species flocks.

Inspire others

Farmers are compensated fairly. It is our intention to inspire others to do what they can.

Our Prayer

“Maranatha” means
Come, O Lord

The first Christian prayer. We honor God in all things.

“This is food the way God intended it to be.”
